Wellesbourne Wanderers FC Under 13 Juniors Fixture Result and Report

Date Type Team S v S Team
29/11/2009 League Bilton Ajax 5 v 0 U13 Juniors

First half - unlike a number of earlier matches this season Juniors started with plenty of determination and fight. The midfield were aggressive and challenged for everything. It took a good goal from Bilton to break the deadlock, followed shortly by an unlucky own goal which put the opposition 2-0 up. It stayed that way until half time with Juniors missing a couple of good opportunities to get one back. The highlight of the half though was a superb penalty save by Ross Newton for the penalty that should never have been.

Second half - Juniors kept up the fight and high energy. Gradually the momentum was starting to shift in Juniors favour until a 50/50 clash between Josh Wood and a Bilton defender left both injured and out of the game. The delay in play for some 5-10 minutes seemed to take the wind out of our sails. Ross saved another penalty but Bilton claimed the rebound. Bilton netted three times in all to leave them with a scoreline that in all honesty was a little flattering even though on balance they deserved their victory.
Coaches Verdict - The performance of the season so far! Full of determination, tenacity and energy we didn't allow the opposition to settle at all. Plenty of composure evident as well as we took time to control the ball first time and follow that with some excellent passing movements which unfortunately didn't quite convert into goals. Lets have more of the same for the rest of the season lads, this is the type of performance we need week in, week out. WELL DONE!
