First Half - Playing uphill against the wind was difficult. Once again we started at a pace slower than the opposition and Norton were first to the ball for the majority of the time. When we did get the ball we tended to give it straight back to them. All three Norton goals were relatively scrappy affairs, generally coming from mistakes for which we seem to get punished all the time this year. It could have been worse had it not been for Ross in goal.
Second Half - The grit and determination increased, we stepped up a gear, assisted by playing downhill with the wind. For the first fifteen minutes we had all the pressure but when opportunities came unfortunately we couldn’t take them. As the half wore on Norton came more into it. Late into the half we scored as James Hodkinson slotted home from a narrow angle but even though we kept creating and attacking it just wouldn’t happen for us. A great effort.

| Coaches verdict - excellent second half but just couldn't convert, first half cost us. We need to play all the game like we did the second half, show more composure and always think to control the ball when it comes to us rather than just kick it first time (especially when we’re under pressure). When we do get the ball under control and pass it between us we're a different team and we play some great football (like Friday training), just need more of it! |
