Wellesbourne Wanderers FC Under 13 Juniors Fixture Result and Report

Date Type Team S v S Team
13/12/2009 League U13 Juniors 3 v 4 Bilton Ajax

First half - Juniors picked up where they left off from the previous match full of determination and endeavour but this time with added composure and confidence. Playing downhill Bilton had most of the attacking play but it was Juniors who took the lead half way through thanks to James Hodkinson (sorry I missed it as I was treating Ryan for an injury - had to be subbed but he's mending well). Bilton kept pressing but some good saves from Ross Newton meant Juniors led 1-0 at half time.

Second half - more of the same from Juniors meant they traded equal blows with their illustrious opponents. After 10 minutes it was 2-0 to Juniors as a neat passing interchange left James Hodkinson free to calmly slot the ball past the advancing keeper. Five minutes later a break away from a Bilton attack saw James Hoskinson speed clear to claim his hat-trick, 3-0. Surely the gods would be on Juniors side this week, but no it was not to be! Bilton never showed signs of giving up, kept pressing, however with 15-20 minutes to go you wouldn't have predicted the end result. Bilton grabbed a goal and it lifted their spirits. With no subs available to add fresh legs Juniors began to tire, Bilton scored two more and the game was level. Would it stay that way? Juniors attacked and went very close before the cruelest blow occured. Bilton got their fourth and the winner with just 4 minutes to go. GUTTED is an understatement! (however thanks must go to the opposition for their part in a great match and for kindly offering their commiserations at the final whistle)
Coaches Verdict - we showed determination, passion, fight, composure and played good football - FANTASTIC! Lads, believe it now, you can compete with the best in the division on equal terms. Repeat it and I'm sure the results will soon go our way as well.
