Minis Registration Now Open

Wellesbourne Wanderers are pleased to announce the restart of our Minis sessions which take place on Saturday mornings.

We are back from Saturday 12th September at the Wellesbourne Sports & Community Centre 3G pitch.

As we’ve done in previous years, there are now two time slots, and it is really important that you register your child for the correct time slot.

Sessions Available

9am – 10am – Reception and Year 1 children

10am – 11am – Year 2 children (Under 7’s)

No player can attend the sessions without registering before they arrive. So please makes sure you fill in this form before hand.

Register Your Child Now

The cost for Minis is £60 for the season, or we can offer 3 payments of £20 as we can appreciate that during these times money is a little tight.

We are hoping to do this through our FA app, but we are just waiting on confirmation we can add those groups to it before we ask for payment.

Each parent who signs up will be emailed payment details once we have confirmed the method in which we will be taking payments for this season. Cash will not be accepted.

If you are new to Minis, the first two sessions are free to see if your child likes it.

Our club has been undertaking rigorous risk assessments on all of our venues, and there will be a strict entry and exit lane, with temperature checks and hand sanitising on arrival and departure. Spectators should be spaced evenly as possible to minimise contact with others.

What to Bring

Players must be wearing shin pads and appropriate footwear (as it can get slippy when wet/cold). Astroturf boots or studded boots are the best bet!

Please also bring a water/drinks bottle, which must be named to avoid any cross usage and so that the children can identify their own drinks.

Training is Back

It’s been a while, but we are pleased to announce that our training facility at Dovehouse reopens from today.

The club has been busy putting measures in place to make sure we can return safely, and your team coach will be in touch with you to let you know the day and time that your child will be resuming training.

We’ve put together a video that will explain the processes, it’s really important that you take a moment to watch it so you, and you’re child, know what to expect when they have their first session.

We’ve also provided some simply A4 sheets you can print out (or just read) with the guidance on as well.

‘Return to Play’ – Club Statement

We hope you and your family are keeping well through these tough times. Whilst football has been off the calendar for the past 3 months, the club are putting together our strategy for a return to training now we’ve had official government and FA guidance on grassroots football being able to resume.

Below, we’ve outlined the steps we are taking to ensure we can have a safe and phased return to football in the coming weeks and months, and the changes that will inevitably come with that as a result.

Risk Assessment

The club has set up a working group, which is currently creating a risk assessment for our Dovehouse training facility. We are looking at how we sanitise equipment and goals, insurance factors, entry points to the site, clear signage, arrival/pick up instructions for parents and many more.

The full detail of this plan will be released once this work has been completed by the club.

Provisional Return Date

Once we have completed the risk assessment, we’ll be in a position to clarify an exact return to training date. We are currently working towards Early July as the return to training sessions at our Dovehouse venue only. These sessions of course will be in a safe, enjoyable and controlled environment.

Next Steps

We appreciate that not everyone will be comfortable with bringing their child back to football just yet. With the club performing this rigorous and extensive risk assessment plan, we hope that we can provide assurances that we as a club are taking this extremely seriously.

We are aware of other clubs training already, we just need to make sure the environment we are providing to you and your child is as safe as it can possibly be based on the latest guidance from both the government and The FA before we can return ourselves.

We may send out a couple of short surveys nearer the time to gauge interest and also feedback on our ‘Return to Play’ protocol. We’d be really grateful if you could fill these in when we publish them.

Any Questions

If you have any questions about this information, please do get in touch via email on and we can answer those for you.

Let’s hope we can get back to some kind of normal soon!

The Committee

Club partner with The FA & PayPal to produce a video about The FA Matchday App

We were invited by The FA and PayPal to take part in a video shoot as a case study for The FA’s Matchday app. Back in August we spent the afternoon filming an interview and a training session with our U9 boys group and U12 Blaze Girls to promote our use of the app within the club.

A massive thank you to all 230 kids parents who have got on board and are using the app this season to help manage player availability, pay your fees and ultimately help our coaches spend less time on admin and more time on coaching the children.

As a result of all 17 teams hitting their target of payments through the app, we managed to get over £4200 of free Nike equipment for the club. So new cones, new match balls and new bibs.

Here is the video of our club secretary Simon Hume talking about the benefits that the app has brought to the club.

Generous Donation to our Defibrillator Appeal

As you may be aware, the club has been raising money to purchase two defibrillators for us use at our home games in the village, at Dovehouse, and just outside the village at our HRI location.

Through some incredible donations from parents, members of the community and local businesses we were gaining on our first target of £850 to purchase the first one.

We were then contacted by Shoezone, who have a Charitable Trust and wanted to donate enough money to buy a defibrillator out right. So in a little over 2 weeks of fund raising, we’ve almost raised enough money to buy both.

Thanks to Jon Fearn at Shoezone for putting our case forward.

At the time of writing we are £188 shy of our overall target. A massive achievement, so thank you once again from everyone at the club to put as in this position so quickly!

Once this round of fund raising is completed, we’ll turn our attention to hopefully purchasing a lockable box to be placed at Dovehouse, for one of the defibrillators, which means the whole community will have access to be able to use it as well.

If you’d like to make a donation to our appeal, you can do so here:

Sponsorship Opportunities

Are you interested in sponsoring one of our Wellesbourne Wanderers teams?

Every season we have new teams coming up through the ranks from U8 to U18’s, and often we need new kit, jackets and equipment for these teams.

Sponsorship Types

Some of the types of sponsorship we are always looking for:

  • Team Kit Sponsorship (Business logo on front of shirt)
  • Rain Jacket Sponsorship (Business logo on rear of jacket)
  • Link to your business on our website, logo & write up (On our new sponsorship page coming in for the 2019/20 season)
  • General Donations to the Club

If you are want to discuss potential sponsorship of the club, from a team level or for anything else, please get in touch on and we can share the kind of packages we have available.

Girls Football Growing at Wellesbourne

This season has seen our Girls training sessions growing in size to the point where we are able to start entering teams for the 2019/20 football season in the Warwickshire Girls leagues.

This is huge for the club and something we’d like to keep growing as well.

We currently train on a Thursday evening in Wellesbourne at the Sports & Community Centre between 6 and 7pm in a mixed session of younger and older girls.

We’d probably encourage the really little ones (at the moment) to join our mixed Minis sessions on a Saturday morning, but from girls in Year 3 and above Thursday night is probably a good time to come and have a go.

If you are interested in bringing your child along, we offer 2 free taster sessions to see if it’s for them, then after that is a fee of £20 per term (or £60 for the whole season).

We’d welcome girls from all around the local area to come and join, regardless of ability, we want the girls to come and have some fun, make new friends and enjoy football!

For further information contact us on and we hope to see some of you soon!

Please share this post on your various parent Facebook groups, and other social media too.

2018/19 Player Registration is Now Open

Player registrations for 2018/19 are now open and we are doing it slightly differently this year.

Rather than filling out a paper form for the club, you can now do this online and pay your fees all at the same time.

If your child is going to be playing for a league registered team in Under 8’s up to Under 17’s then you will be required to pay £100 for the season. If your child is joining Minis, training for the girls or just training with an age group (and not playing league fixtures) then a reduced fee of £60 applies.

Please fill in your registration form and make sure you make payment here. If you have any questions, please contact your age group coach BEFORE registration and making payment.

Please note that the league registration form will still be required for Under 8’s to under 17’s, with the two passport photographs.

All Training Cancelled

All football training at the 3G pitches in Wellesbourne and Stratford-upon-Avon is cancelled for this Thursday, Friday and for Saturday Minis due to the adverse weather conditions.
